Family Dining Series at Tilth

Via the Red Tricycle blog, Wallingford's Tilth is participating in the Family Dining Series, a series of family-friendly dinners organized by Red Tricycle and Future Foodies of America, a social community started by former P-I food critic Hsiao-Ching Chou. Introduce your kids to haute cuisine without feeling like you'll be cheesing off a room full of childless couples in the process.

Unfortunately, the two dates advertised in the blog entry are already full, but you can still get on the waiting list and hope that some other family's plans get derailed, and let's face it: for familes with kids, that's always a possibility.

""Future Foodies of America, created by former Seattle P-I food editor Hsiao-Ching Chou, is a new social network for parents who believe in the imperative of teaching their children to have a holistic relationship with food that is as much about pleasure as it is about healthfulness and nutrition.""

i think that's great - but how about "behaving in restaurants 101"? I will never forget the woman at the next table bursting into tears as the three year old slammed into her silk clad lap with sticky fingers at a fancy restaurant. come to find out - it was her first night out after a bed ridden pregnancy and months with a sick child.
Tilth has some uber high end table ware - wonder if that will be in use universally at these dinners

I'm glad to see this post, so that I know when to avoid going there! I've had too many nice evenings ruined by those who feel having been able to reproduce gives them special rights to be asshats.

I'm happy to hear about this family series. The sooner children learn to be comfortable at the table and enjoy different flavors, the better for all of us.

Let's remember that we were all kids at one time, learning to behave ourselves in public, and likely annoyed those around us at least once or twice.
